Every MacBook with a notch: MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch (2021 and later) and MacBook Air 13-inch and 15-inch with an M2 chip or later. Brim runs on macOS 14 Sonoma, macOS 15 Sequoia and macOS 26 Tahoe, on Apple Silicon and Intel.

Yes. On Macs and external displays without a notch (an iMac, a Mac mini or Mac Studio with a display, an older MacBook), Brim draws its own island at the top of the screen. It works the same way, and you can hide it when it’s idle.

Yes. Now Playing stays on the Lock Screen, and your remaining battery life shows just below the clock, for example “About 8 h 40 min of battery”. Brim estimates it from your Mac model’s rated battery life, your battery’s health and your own recent usage. The island also plays a lock and unlock animation, with a padlock sound. Your clipboard, files, calendar and notifications never appear while your Mac is locked, and the Lock Screen features send nothing anywhere.

Yes. When your AirPods or Beats connect, the island shows their real image and their battery level. Other Bluetooth headphones and speakers show up too.

Yes. When you swipe between desktops (Spaces), the island stays on the notch instead of sliding away with your windows.

Yes. In Brim’s settings you choose what appears in the open island, what each gesture does, the style of the volume and brightness HUD, and much more.

Eight: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), German, Italian, Japanese and Chinese (Simplified). Brim uses your Mac’s language. To use another one for Brim only, pick it in System Settings › General › Language & Region › Applications.

1. Download Brim and open Brim.dmg.
2. Drag Brim to your Applications folder, then open it.
3. Brim welcomes you and asks for the few permissions it needs.

Brim lives in the notch and the menu bar, not in the Dock. Open it again from Applications or Spotlight to reach its settings.

Apple reviews apps through a process called notarization, and Brim is so new that this isn’t done yet. It’s a one-time step: click Done (never “Move to Trash”), then open System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll to Security and click Open Anyway next to Brim. If the message comes back for a part of Brim, do the same once more. The install guide shows each step.

All optional. Each only turns on its feature, and you can change them anytime in System Settings › Privacy & Security.

Yes. Brim shows whatever appears in Control Center’s Now Playing: Spotify, Music, Podcasts, VLC, and YouTube or Netflix in Safari, Chrome, Arc, Edge or Brave. Swipe with two fingers on the island to skip tracks.

No. Brim is a native Swift app that waits for events instead of polling. It uses about 0% CPU at rest and around 60–100 MB of memory.

Brim gives you 7 days to try every feature, then a one-time license for up to 3 Macs. Our comparison page lists the prices and terms we checked on each developer’s own website.

Up to 3 Macs that you own or use. The same key activates each of them.

On the old Mac, open Brim’s Settings › License › Deactivate on This Mac, then activate the key on the new one. Old Mac lost or erased? Write to us and we’ll free it.

Get it by email in a few seconds on your license page, using the email address you bought with.

Every 1.x update is free. Brim checks for updates daily (you can turn this off) and tells you when one is ready.

Yes. Within 14 days of purchase, email us from your purchase address and we refund you in full. Details in our terms.

No tracking, no analytics, no account. Everything Brim shows is processed on your Mac. It only goes online to check your license, look for updates and fetch Spotify artwork. Details in our privacy policy.

Brim is made and sold by RMJD Group SRL, a company based in Brussels, Belgium. Our legal notice has the details.

Quit Brim from its menu bar icon, then drag it from Applications to the Trash. To also remove its data and settings, delete ~/Library/Application Support/Brim and ~/Library/Preferences/app.brim.mac.plist.
